~The Sea Flier, Chapter Seven~

"This, I'm sure you're familiar with," Slightly said as they stood in front of the chest. Peter thought back to his time in the chest. He wasn't sure quite how long he was in there, but yes, he had gotten to know it fairly well.
"One time a month we get a new Beanie. This month it was you. It's never not happened and it never won't happen, as far as we know. One time a week we get stuff. Food, resources, clothes and such. We make pretty much everything else, here in Forever Land." Peter had so many questions that he wanted to ask, but he knew that they would not get answered and they would make him disliked. Who made all this? Who decides who comes in the chest? Where did this all come from?
"But of course, I know you know not to ask all too many questions," Slightly said as if reading Peter's thoughts. Slightly went on to tell Peter pretty much all that Curly told him. "You'll start working your trade." Peter started to pay attention now. "You can be either a Foodsman, Labordudel, Bagger, or a Tracksman!" He didn't even mention a sailor, Peter noted.
As they walked more around the island, Peter noticed that he remembered random things. Common knowledge, such as a lamb or a cow. He knew that a door was a door and it had a knob. He just forgot the most important things such as... his mother's name, his last name, where he's from! Where was the last place I saw a cow? Peter strained, but could not bring back anything.
They made their way to a strange cave that Peter had missed on his way up the mountain with Curly. It had a strange eeriness to it which frightened Peter to the smallest extent. Either in Peter's imagination or not, there was a fog that surrounded the area. Slightly kept walking forward normally. Peter couldn't see his friend's face, but he imagined it being very solemn. The wall of rock turned smooth at a point. It was glazed with some carving in it. It look like random words. No, they were names.
"I'm one of the only originals left," Slightly said in a low whisper. "Two years ago and there was no names here at all. 'Cept Barnes. Barnes was a dipstick. But it just shows you how bad the sea is. Nobody can be out there. Nobody but the sailors."
There. Peter knew the word was going to come out eventually. "I will be a sailor," Peter said with confidence. Slightly let out a bellowing laugh. It was interrupted with a sudden loud booming sound.
"The chest." Slightly said. "The chest!"
    Peter did not catch on.
"The chest! It only comes once a week! That can't be right!" Peter followed Slightly as he started sprinting to the chest sight. "And it's a beanie, too!" Slightly yelled from ahead. Peter guessed he could tell from the flashing red lights around the chest. Nibs, Curly, James, and others were all gathered around it. There was nothing but pure terror in most eyes. All others was complete confusion. A new beanie two days in a row. It has never happened.
