~The Anchors, Chapter 4: Remember the Alamo~

There's been an invasion. There's blood everywhere. Avery wakes up to all the noise and confusion. He sees people running around screaming and hears alarms going off everywhere. The group runs to the front desk to ask what's happening.
Sally is at the desk. "Hi there. Everything's going to be alright, there is just a few people, trying to get in the building, who we don't want to be here." Her voice annoys Avery. He looks around for his brother, but he is nowhere to be seen. Maybe he just went to the bathroom or something.
Someone a few meters away yells, "They are surrounding the building! We are done for!" That's when all chaos breaks loose. The windows shatter. Almost all at once. Glass covers the floor. Sirens are going off and red lights are flashing. Police men are guiding everyone in the building downstairs. Avery runs with the group following the police men's orders and looks back to see the undead climbing through the windows. People are running for the door, but the police have no choice and have to close them and lock them shut.
A long hallway is in front of them. It smells just like a hospital. Like sick people. Lights in the rooms they run past are all blinking. The hallway light is blinking also, but more slowly. It has an atmosphere that just feels like death. One that makes your skin tingle when you think about it and gives you goose bumps. Avery couldn't even tell if it was hot or cold, because he had those goosebumps, but he was drenched in sweat. He still didn't see Cole anywhere. This worries him. In front of him, Steven and Nick are running like there's no tomorrow. If Cole were there, he'd be making some joke or something. But Avery has no idea where he is, or if he will ever see him again.
They get to the end of the hallway and go down more stairs. They are concrete stairs and it is definitely cold in there. With so many people running down the stairs, it is very loud. Avery shouts to Minte beside him, "Do you know where we are going?"
"Nah man, I'm just following everyone else." He replied.

They get to a garage with four ambulences in it. The policemen open the back doors of the ambulences and shove out all the medical equipment. It would be useful, but room for the people is more important at this point. They shove everyone in. Avery gets in one with the rest of the group. The policeman said, "We are taking you to the safest hospital in Texas. One of the best, I'd say."
"And where is that?" Asked a man probably in his 60's with a white scruffy beard, and a nearly bald head, sitting next to Jack.
"San Antonio, Texas." replied the officer. "Univeristy Hospital."

........................................................................................................................

The ride is so uncomfortable. About twelve to fourteen people packed in the back of an ambulence on a five hour drive is about the worst think you could imagine. Steven is asleep. Minte is listening to his music, probably Eminem or Jay-Z. Joseph and Nick are singing Cage the Elephant, and Tray is practicing his growls. Jack and Alex are playing a game of war with the deck of cards that Alex brought. Justice is acting as commisoner on a very intense game of silent football that Avery, Charlton, Ryan, and Thomas. Ryan is acting as Mr. Booty McLicious and is crying. Again.
The ambulence exits the highway and right there, a huge building with a very large sign that says, "University Hospital" Under it, a small print reads, "4502 Medical Drive, San Antonio, TX"

.........................................................................................................................

Ryan feels like he has to slap the stupid doctor to get information out of him. "Just tell me"  "What. I need to do. If I get bitten."   "Right now."  He said.
"Well again that's difficult," The doctor started, in his deep texan, but old man, accent. "You might start by sayin a prayer."
"I'm done!" Exclaimed Ryan. "Has anyone ever told you, how dumb you are?" He shouted in the old man's face.
"Ryan!" A few people murmured. Alex spoke. "Sir, what do you think the first step to take, medically speaking, would be smart if I, or anyone else, were to get bitten by a zombie?" This time, the man got stern. "Well you see, I would take some of this spray here, see, and I'd cover the wound with it. I'd cover it real good and it'l numb it down real well. You won't feel a thing when you have to amputate. Now when you amputate, you wanna use this blade here, see, and you wanna lay the limb on a flat surface and put lots of pressure on the limb, on the side towards the non-amputated part. Keep that pressure on there and give him this shot here, anywhere you can find a vein. This'll put them to sleep real well. Now listen closely on this part here. You wanna take the blade, and cut through, after you give them the shot, as hard and as fast as you can, with someone prepared with this bandage rap. And how you rap the bandage, well this is the most important part. First you have to-"
A gun shot goes off, and the whole group looks back at the door that slams shut and locks. They turn back to the doctor as if they were on queue and see the blood stain all over his shirt. No doubt that killed him. It was right over his heart.
Great. Humans killing eachother during a zombie freaking apocolypse. Nick takes his control. "Joseph, get that stool and your revolver. Shoot the window up there open and start stacking things up so we can climb to the window."
Joseph does as he is told and glass shatters all over the room. Steven, Minte, and Joseph are making a pile of medical boxes and such to be able to climb to the window. Steven is the first one out, and gets a nasty cut on his leg on the way out of the window. "Watch out for glass!" He yells.
One by one, they all climb out and start running. The safest hospital in Texas has assassins. The Anchors run. And run. And run. Steven says, "I wish I had my longboard right now."
Finally, Jack says, "I need a rest." They had been running and not looking back. They saw zombies on their way to wherever they were, but ignored them. The just wanted to get away from that zombie infested downtown San Antonio. Jack looks around. "Hey look, the Alamo!"

.......................................................................................................................

The Anchors slowly walk up to the door of the Alamo. The door is very large and is a dark brown wood. Joseph studies the Alamo. It is a briliantly designed building. Or was. It looks partially destroyed. The Texas flag in front of it is torn apart. The bricks of the Alamo are an off white color, but look very old. He notices also that-
                          Screaming.
"We have to get in there!" Exclaimes Charlton. The group barges into the war torn building. There are zombies everywhere. At least a hundred of them. On the far side of the building, the old man with the scruffy white beard and the nearly bald head who had been on the ambulence, was standing in front of a smaller figure behind him, but Joseph can not make out who it is. It must be a smaller child. The man is swinging a large sword in front of him in a large arc. It does no damage, but keeps the zombies away from him and the child.
         "Help!" He yells. "My granddaughter!"
The group is running towards them. This time, Minte is the first off the line and presses the button on his wrist to pop out the razor sharp blades on his arm. He nails one right in the face, to start off the fight. Alex fires a few shots from a 22.
Joseph thinks quickly to himself. 'It sure is lucky that the group still has all their weapons. It is a bummer about the vehicles.... And my dog.' He remembers the face of the puppy and his barks. His paws up on the window sill. He is glad that he let the windows down, though. Ajax could have gotten out very easily. Him and Tank surely made it to safety.
Ryan starts throwing rocks. Joseph quickly takes back his thought about being thankful for all the weapons. Clearly, not the whole group still has theirs.
Tray lets out a roar and then stabs a zombie right through the chest with a long blade. Nick goes to work swinging his katana. Joseph lets a few shots out of his revolver. The little girl is screaming. The zombies make this noise that is just unexplainable. It is almost like a growl, but a little more like a hiss. Their eyes roll back and forth in their sockets and their wrists are bent all the way forward while they run full speed at their foes.
Charlton is nailing one after another right in the forehead every time. He is a sharp shooter. He shoots and starts running toward the child and the man, who are now the least bit of concern to the zombies. While Steven starts making lots of noises like, "Holy goat nipples!" and "Mexican babies!"
the zombies make their way straight for him. Jack sets his aim and starts mowing down the zombies running after Steven. This creates an easy passage for Charlton to run and get the child to safety. He picks her up and starts jogging out of the Alamo. The old man right behind him. The girl is holding something in her hands, but Joseph can't make out what it is.
There are four zombies left. Steven makes his way out to help Charlton, in case any medical attention is needed. Nick backs up and yells, "Get away!" While he pulls the pin of a grenade. Joseph decides to make Nick angry and makes four quick shots and creates a useless job for the grenade.
        "Double tap." Nick said.

The man introduces himself as Woody. His grand daughter's name is Susan. He tells the group his story of his wife, Sally, and him working in that hospital back in Dallas. Their children, the parents of Susan, had turned while Susan was spending the night at her grandparents house. They took her to the hospital with them and she stuck with her grandpa the whole time. When they arrived in San Antonio, without Sally, they both needed something to cheer them up. Woody was an expirienced fighter, but in his older age, had a stroke and was now less able to fight the way he used to. He was naive to that fact. He took Susan down the riverwalk and found the Alamo. They went inside and saw the gloriousness at the back of the Alamo. The vending machine. They ran up to it, and Susan asked for one thing and one thing only: a twinky. Woody agreed, but they could not get the vending machine to work. Woody got angry, and in his anger, kicked the vending machine which then fell over. They turned around to see zombies. The Anchors came just in time. Just in time to be a true Texan and win the second Battle of the Alamo.
