~The Anchors Chapter 7: Death, Pain, Sorrow~

Everyone thanks Alex for being such a dang smart genious.

After the mysterious men saw the group of teenagers, they ran. They took Cole and ran. Alex did the first thing he saw fit and grabbed one of the sticky trackers out of his pocket and threw it. Miraculously, it stuck to the shoe of one of the men. The teenagers went back to their camp sight next to the Avenger's set. The vans were packed with sleeping guys. The girls had tents set up on the grass. Rebekah and Caroline woke everyone up yelling the news about Cole. Alex looked on the GPS device on his phone and saw something interesting. The men took Cole to the exact location of where the scientist went.

Nick tears the paper off the top of a bag of blueberry oatmeal. He takes a small bit of hot water that the girls made and pours it in the bag and stirs it up with a plastic spoon.
"And so five people will come at this entrance here, and four here. I don't know how many people will be inside the building, but I'm not assuming hundreds." Joseph continues on his strategy plan. "Nick, you should take Minte, Tray, Debbie, and Carissa to this door and make your way inside. Use that walki-talki on channel four and tell us whats up. You can press that button on the top to just send a flashing signal to the others. Thomas, Steven, Jordan, and Grace will come if needed." He uses the tiny map on Alex's phone to show the plan. It is hard to see so the shorter people are packed in.
As Nick eats his breakfast at this ungodly hour in the morning, he half-heartedly listens to this strategy. It seems like a good one though, because Alex does not object or argue anything. He knows where he's supposed to be at a certain time, and the main mission. Today, he just doesn't feel like fighting though. The whole group could use some rest, but for Cole's sake, they have to storm the building.
"I am expecting some of you to not like this idea, but these are actually living beings we will be fighting. Presumably, at least. We will aim not to kill any. Yes, you may shoot because they will be shooting at us. This will be the most dangerous thing we have yet to do. At least us guys." Joseph says. "But aim for legs or arms. If there is an injured foe, that is what Emily, Melissa, Charlton, Alex, and I will be helping with. We will get them outside the building so that the atmosphere is more safe. We just want to drag them out here and tie them and get more. Our main purpose is to get Cole out alive, not kill everyone. We also want the scientist, Dr. Fitzgerald, for some questioning." Joseph finishes.
Nick thinks some more about the plan. He looks around and sees a small camera at the top corner of the closest building. 'It's got to be hooked up to some deserted company or something' he thinks. He knows he should be more focused. After all, he is leading the most dangerous project that the Anchors have done so far. He could die. He tries to stop thinking about that and finishes his oatmeal.

Battle positions are ready. It is seven thirty-two in the morning. Anchorage has surrounded the building. It is relatively small, about the size of a large house. It has many doors. It also has a basement. Nick along with Minte, Tray, Debbie and Carissa are standing next to the front door. He knows that there is plenty of people to come to his aid if he needs it. He carries his prized rifle and has a katana strapped to his back. Minte straps on his deadly wrist weapon. Tray lets out a small growl and spins a pistol around his finger. Debbie and Carissa both carry daggers and are praying. Nick checks his watch again and it's seven thirty-four. In one minute, all his video game training will be justified. 27 seconds. 22 seconds. 17 seconds. 12 seconds. 7 seconds. 2 seconds. He holds up his hand to signal the movement forward. He starts to slowly open the door and sirens and alarms go off. He starts running. He knows that his friends are behind him. He takes a left. He runs. He takes a right. He hasn't seen a soul. He sees a staircase going down and holds up his right hand to signal the staircase to the right. He glances behind him and sees nobody.

Three minutes have passed. Steven knows it is good to go. He enters the building slowly. An alarm is already going off. Along with Thomas, Jordan, and Grace, he runs the hallway and immediately sees a staircase to the left. He starts to run down.

Joseph whispers, "Alright!" and it's time to go. They run into the building, looking all around for people on the ground. Injured or not. They see nobody. He runs and runs and keeps running. He realizes he went in a large circle. He went in a whole loop and saw nobody. He turns around to ask Alex if he saw anyone, but not a soul is there.

Justice opens the window on the roof. With a few of the Anchorettes and Avery and Ryan, he jumps through the window and lands on the floor of the upstairs level. He expects to hear Ryan pout about the boo boo he just hurt or to dancing and singing that he just jumped through a window, but hears nothing. He looks back up and they are gone.

Ryan jumps. There is no turning back. He saw Justice jump and land and now it is his turn. He says a silent prayer and thinks what Cady would do. Would she back out and lie to Regina and make an excuse? Gretchen wouldn't tell her, would she? And Karen would be too dumb to notice. (Don't tell her I thought that.) Or would Cady be brave and jump? "Cady would be brave!" Ryan says to himself out loud on accident. He closes his eyes and jumps. He lands on his feet. He looks up and notices how short of a cieling there is, but decides to make a dance and sings, "Ryan is the coolest!" He looks around for Justice, who is not there.

.............................................................................................................................

"Welcome to the Apocolypse!" The man says. Nick is sitting in a seat in a large auditorium next to Joseph. Steven, Minte, and Charlton are sitting on the other side of him. Wait- they aren't sitting there. They are all tied to seats in a large auditorium! Nick notices bloody lips on all the mouths of his friends. Their arms are cut and they have bruises all over. Thats when he feels the aching pain in his forehead and on his arms and legs.
"Thank you for being so cooperative, and coming into our building! Well, trap I should say." The mysterious man on the stage spoke. Nick studied him. The way his gray hair frizzed around. His skinny muscles. His deep brown eyes. Suddenly it hit him. Dr. Fitzgerald had tricked them. He turned his head as much as he could and saw all of the Anchors. The Anchorettes were behind him. They were all tied to the seats and bleeding.
"The torture pains should be hitting all of you about now" He said. "With the help of my gaseous sleeping and hallucination invention, it was very easy to give you all a, well, a nice little treatment. What you saw once you entered the building felt so real, right? Did it not feel absolutely real? Well let me tell you, you were all passed out on the floor. Muttering words like sleep talk, you all panicked! With the assurancy that none of that was real, how can you believe that this is? You all might very well be zombies right now! You would have no idea!" The man was insane. "My excursion to San Antonio was very profitable. All the inteligent, potential, zombie fighting menaces will be no more. Mr. Roberson was the only intelligent, and potential menace we had in this group, but after your little battle at the Alamo, and yes we saw it all, we decided that all of you should die. Yes, that is what you will suffer. Death, Pain, and Sorrow. This thing you are experiencing," He said gruesomly, "Is called Cereberus!"
