~The Sea Flier, Chapter Three~

Peter woke up very early the next morning to a small tickle on his shoulder. He sat up quickly and started waving his hands to rid of the bug-like things that were landing on his body. He looked a little closer at one and discovered that it was bigger than he thought and had blue eyes. Not blue eyes like a baby, but robotic blue eyes.
"Called a parrot bot," Curly answered. Peter did not see him wake, but the recent commotion probably woke him up. Peter was surprised that he didn't wake up through the night at all. He expected to have a restless sleep, but he was so drained.
"They're nasty creatures. We don't know exactly where they came from, but they are pretty harmless. Unless you try to touch them. Doesn't explain why... why the muds land on you all the time."
Now that the sun was up, Peter could see Curly a little bit better. He noticed that when he used some of the other Lost Boy's slang, he stuttered the slightest bit.
Peter thought back to his dream last...
"What was that?" Peter asked in shock. They had both heard it. A terrible, frightening scream.
"It's Edwin. He's been in there for a few days now," Curly said with a bead of sweat running down the side of his head. Another scream sounded and Peter was scared.
   "What happened?" Peter gulped.
   "They got him... The pirates."
"There's pirates here? What do they want? What did they do to him?" Peter shot out. Just as he did, he realized that he was exactly what Nibs hated. He gulped again in regret.
"Yes, there's pirates, but they aren't anything like you or any other dingus around here has ever seen of one. Don't ask what they are like, 'cause, anyone who's seen one here just ends up like Edwin... They can't explain that or anything after their experience. They get this wound."
This was the information that Peter had been waiting for. Something more out there that scared them. Something that kept them in here. Something that the walls protected them from. His gut told him that these pirates were being downplayed a lot by Curly.
"There's only one cure for it and it's sent in the chest. We store 'em up somewhere. Not sure exactly, but it hurts a lot. Thats what the screaming is from. Keeps 'em alive." Curly explained the situation some more. Peter's stomach started to hurt. He wandered a little ways and found himself in a bathroom. It had small mirrors and some trashy old sinks. He splashed some water on himself shook out his hair. He had dirty blond hair and he looked maybe 5 foot 7 or 8. He couldn't quite recall what he looked like before, so it was like meeting someone new again. He took a guess of being 15 years old. He couldn't quite tell.
"You'll feel like mud for a few days."
Peter looked behind him to see Nibs standing there.
"What's your name, anyway, Beanie?" Nibs asked.
Peter. He thought. Peter. Seems incomplete. There's something more. Peter... He tried to remember so hard but nothing came.
   "I'm Peter," he finally answered.

...........................................................................................

Peter had walked a little more. He wanted to see around this small area that they all called Forever Land. Why did they call it that anyway? He wandered to a building, not even noticing that the screaming had gone. Edwin must have fallen asleep... or... No.
Peter opened the front door. Nobody was inside, as far as he could tell. He wandered down a hallway and heard voices behind a closed door. He started to pass until he heard his name.
"Peter is his name. Could it be him? The Peter that James screamed about during his experience?"
They said the word experience like it was some magical event. He had his ear up to the door while he was thinking and he didn't notice that the talking stopped. The door opened hard and Peter fell into the room onto the floor. Nibs, Slightly, the dude James, and a few others stood around. He remembered James from the beginning.
"What are you doing spying on us?" James picked him up by the shirt. He smelled like a gorilla that had just basked in the sun with zucchini.
"I heard my name!" Peter was surprised at his confident response. He struggled out of the grasp of James and took one look behind him before running out of the door. He left the room with an image of Slightly and Nibs looking at him with concern.
What was this experience they talked about? And what does James have against me?
